Distance:  ~40 miles Time: ~1 hour 15 minutes Arrival: 8:45 AM Activity:  Brief stop in Ripon, where you can stretch your legs and perhaps visit the historic Ripon Cathedral, which dates back over 1,300 years (15-30 minutes). Ripon to Grassington (via Pateley Bridge and Masham) Route:  Continue on the B6265 towards Grassington, passing through Pateley Bridge, a charming town nestled in the heart of the Nidderdale AONB. The road winds through valleys and over gentle hills, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Distance: ~20 miles Time: ~45 minutes Arrival: 9:30 AM Activity:  Continue without stopping, as the drive itself is the main attraction. Grassington to Skipton Route: Head south on the B6265 to Skipton, known as the “Gateway to the Dales.” The road offers sweeping views of the Yorkshire Dales as you approach the historic town. Blackburn to Bourton-on-the-Water (via M65, M6, and A429) Route: To cover distance efficiently, take the M65 from Blackburn to the M6 southbound. Continue on the M6, bypassing major towns and cities, until you reach the M42 southbound. Follow the M42 to J3A, then join the M40 south. Exit at J15 and take the A429 through the Cotswolds, passing charming villages and lush green landscapes before reaching Bourton-on-the-Water. Distance:  ~110 miles Time: ~2.5 hours Arrival: 4:35 PM Activity:  Arrive in Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds.” Enjoy a peaceful evening strolling along the river, exploring local eateries, and soaking in the village’s picturesque beauty.
